Anthony "Tony" Gill, 59, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away on August 16, 2026. Born in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of Cooper Gill and the late Bettie Lou Gill. In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Blankenship; children, Matthew Blankenship (Kari Campbell) and Stephanie Smrcka (Steven); grandchildren, Ainsley Smrcka, Gerald Christopher, and Alaina Christopher; and brother, Darrell Gill (Melissa).
Tony was as a member of the United States Army, proudly serving his country in Operation Desert Storm before becoming an Operator at Allied Chemical. He was a true outdoorsman in every sense of the word; he could always be found hunting, fishing, or gardening. Tony was a member of the Shurshot Hunt Claub and a dedicated Legionnaire with the American Legion Post 284 in Colonial Heights. Above all else, Tony was devoted to his family. He was the best Poppa in the world and doted on his grandchildren. He will not only be remembered as a great hunter and fisher, but also as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.
A memorial service for Tony will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony's memory may be made to the Children's Hospital of Richmond at https://www.chrichmond.org.
