Andrew Plakas

Andrew Plakas, 91, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026. He is preceded in death by his uncle, Louis Plakas and his aunt, Emma Plakas.
Andrew was born in Mikro Horio, Greece. He came to the United States at the age of 15 and worked and lived with his Uncle Louis at Dixie Restaurant. He established Andrew's Grill in Petersburg, VA, and used that experience and business to purchase A&B Restaurant also in Petersburg, VA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen Plakas; his sons, Pete Plakas and Lucky Plakas (Connie); and his grandchildren, Nick Plakas and Alexa Plakas.
A wake will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church in Hopewell, VA. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Andrew's name to the Leukemia National Foundation and to St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church.
