Alfred Melvin Brinkley

March 19, 1938 — May 24, 2025

Alfred Melvin Brinkley, also beloved as "Big Al", 87, of North Chesterfield, VA, passed away on May 24, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Gladys Brinkley; his sisters, Dorothy Blanche Baker, Shirley Gray Brinkley, and Mary Ann Brinkley Ingram; and his brother, Bobby Lee Brinkley.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 26 years, Peggy Brinkley; his daughters, Beverly Brinkley (Rick Walter) and Tonya Porter (Nathan); his stepsons, Charles F. Seal (Franky), Johnny E. Seal, and Carl T. "CT" Waybright (April); his grandchildren, A.J. Ricci, Andrea Ricci, Tinsley Porter, and Brinkley Porter; his step grandchildren, Jes Seal (Anna), Trey Seal, Matthew Seal, Ariel Waybright, Jonathan Seal, Michael Seal, and Christian Waybright; and his great-granddaughter, Ruby Mae.

Alfred served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a welder in construction. He was a drummer in the "Blue Notes" band, and his excellent sense of rhythm also aided him in his love for dancing. He was an avid card player, loved gardening and enjoyed going to the beach. He had a great love for animals and was always bringing home a stray cat or dog. Alfred loved socializing, fishing, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones. His two favorite sayings were, "Water is life" and "Life goes on."

A celebration of life will be held for Alfred by the family at a later date. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
