Alan Dale Bishop

Alan "Dale" Bishop, 58, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024. He began high school at Dinwiddie County High School and graduated from Jones County High School in Gray, GA. He worked as a packing specialist for 38 years between Brown & Williamson and Reynolds Operating Company. Dale was a horsepower enthusiast and enjoyed restoring Ford Mustangs. He was a frequent attendee of the Hot Nights Hot Cars of the Pilot Mountain Cruise-In. He enjoyed cutting grass, and cutting up with friends and family. Dale was a natural musician who loved playing the banjo, pickin' with fellow musicians, and listening to bluegrass music.

Dale is preceded in death by his grandparents, John G. and Georgeanna Bishop, and Charles Raymond and Sarah B. Gauldin. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Valerie Gaskins Bishop; devoted son, Alan "Kyle" Bishop and wife, Elizabeth; caring parents, Cecil Allen and Rose Gauldin Bishop; joyful grandson, Jack Allen Bishop; and dear sisters, Sandy Belshan (David), Janet Tyler (Roy), and Kim Daniels (Keath); numerous well-loved nieces and nephews and their families.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Smyrna Baptist Church, 18971 Carson Rd, Dinwiddie, VA 23841. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Rd. Petersburg, VA 23805. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Free Will Baptist Children's Home of Middlesex, NC via P.O. Box 249, Middlesex NC, 27557, or to your local US military veteran's association.
