Agatha Papanicola

Agatha C. Papanicola, 96, of Hopewell, Virginia, entered into eternal rest, at her home, with her children by her side, on August 19, 2024.

Agatha was born in Cyprus, and is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry. Agatha is survived by her son, Constantine Papanicolaou; daughters, Lina Cameron and her husband, Edward, and Rea Lampesis and her husband, Peter; and her grandchildren, Rachel, Peter, Alex, and Harry.

Agatha met the love of her life, Harry, in England. During their 62 year marriage, the two led a lifetime of adventure. She was well traveled and lived in many countries. Finally settling in Hopewell, they purchased the Navigator's Den Restaurant in 1972, and quickly immersed themselves in the Hopewell community.

She showed her love through her cooking skills and always provided wonderful meals for her family.

Affectionately known as Mrs. P. or YiaYia, her vibrant spirit and loving nature left an indelible mark on anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Agatha's dedication to God, her church, and her family was the foundation to her selfless life.

The family is especially grateful for the compassionate care provided by her son, Constantine, in her final years.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church, on 107 Memorial Ave, Hopewell. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the church, with interment to follow at Appomattox Cemetery.
