Adelle Rott Merhout

Adelle Rott Merhout, 80, of Prince George, VA, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Born in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Anton J. Rott and Adelle Myszka Hewitt and was also preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Rott. Mrs. Merhout will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved going to her granddaughters' sporting events and being their biggest fan. She was a dedicated member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Petersburg, VA, where she had served in many different capacities. Mrs. Merhout enjoyed many things in life, to include needlework, going to the casino, playing cards, reading, and going fishing with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph "Joe" Merhout; two children, David Merhout and wife, Teresa, and Marie Harrison and husband, Tommy; and three granddaughters, Katie Merhout, Elle Harrison, and Piper Harrison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Gino Rossi, celebrant. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Special Project Fund in memory of Adelle Merhout.
