Sarah Hodges Nichols, 92, a resident of Hopewell since 1948, passed away Sunday, January 06, 2013 in Raleigh, NC. Born in Franklin County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Ella Grubb Hodges. Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Hopewell Church of the Brethren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 76 years, Linford H. Nichols; children, Thelma Thompson and husband, Ron, Wendell Nichols and wife, Shelvia, Maurice Nichols and wife, Dolores, Barbara Piner, Carolyn Walker and husband, Jerry, and Timmy Nichols and wife, Sherie; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a sister, Martha Hodges Stillwell. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9th at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Pastor Wayne Pennington and Curt Holsopple officiating. Interment will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
