Rosina Macherhammer Barnes

August 23, 1935 - January 21, 2022

Rosina Macherhammer Barnes, 86, of Hopewell, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. Born in Anthering, Salzburg, Austria she was the daughter of the late Josef Macherhammer and Anna Baumgartner Macherhammer. She is survived by her son, James Hardy (Cindy); and granddaughter, Morgan Hardy and her dear friends, Susanne and David Bohon. Rosina was a licensed cosmetologist in Austria before coming to the United States. She went on to work for ICI in Chester as a material handler until her retirement. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prince George. She enjoyed deep sea fishing and tending to her garden, where she took special care of her Amaryllis flowers. Rosina especially loved going on trips with her granddaughter, Morgan. She loved her family and will be dearly missed. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 9300 Community Ln. S. Prince George, VA 23805. The family will receive friends immediately following until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to your local SPCA. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
