    Paul L Legg

    September 28, 1935 - April 21, 2022

Paul L Legg died peacefully on April 21, 2022 in Mechanicsville. Paul was born to Leonard Bell and Caroline Leola Legg in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He was a graduate of Morris Harvey College (now the University of Charleston) in Charleston, WV and taught middle and high school in Kanawha and Wood Counties in West Virginia. In 1978, the family moved to Chesterfield County where Paul became an inaugural member of the faculty at L.C. Bird High School until his retirement in 1997. He spent his retirement volunteering at various high schools and a local animal shelter. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Diana K Legg (nee Jarrett). He is survived by his sister, Joyce Zirkle (Kenneth) of Buckhannon, West Virginia and his son, Jeff Legg and daughter-in law, Lynn. Paul has two grandchildren, Tabitha Garcia (Onofre) and Kiel Legg, as well as six great-grandchildren: Kayla, Alycia, Giovanni, Donovan, Natalia, and Angel. The family thanks the residents and staff of Chester Village Senior Apartments where Paul lived for the past decade. Jeff and Lynn particularly thank Linda Freeman who assisted Paul in his later years, allowing him to live independently and happily amongst his friends in Chester. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Condolences can be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
