    Mary Hope

    July 26, 1925 - May 5, 2022

    Mary Riddle Hope, of Hopewell, VA, passed away peacefully May 5, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lacy E. Akers and Nina Edwards Akers; first husband, J.D Riddle; second husband, Fred Hope; and her daughter-in-law, Deborah Riddle. She is survived by her son, Danny Riddle; daughter, Susan Bishop (Casey); daughter, Dianne R. Edwards (Aubrey); grandchildren, Stefanie Neal (Jamie), James Carter Riddle (Michelle), Cliff Hamner (Kristin), Nicholas Hamner, Ashlee Montagno (Anthony); great-grandchildren, Abby Neal, Ella Neal, Travis Riddle, Trevor Riddle, Kristi Hamner, Nathaniel Hamner, and Madelyn Montagno; sister, Bobbie Comer; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Mary was a longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church and most recently of New Covenant Fellowship Church in Chester, VA. During her lifetime, Mary was very active in church; she was a member of Hopewell Church of the Nazarene and taught the College and Career Class. She was the President of the Ladies Lift Group, the Missionary President, a Steward on the church board, started the prayer chain, sang in the church choir, and sang in a trio all over the tri-cities. Mary was also a member of the Red Hat Society. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at J.T. Morriss & Son - Hopewell Chapel, 820 W. Broadway, Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at J.T. Morriss & Son - Hopewell Chapel. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregiver Juanita Bowles for her compassionate care. Condolences can be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com.
