    Edward Coleman

    May 8, 1941 - January 26, 2022

    Edward Mervin Coleman, 80, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ruth Coleman. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Yvonne B. Coleman; daughter, Jennifer L. Hatfield; son, Timothy B. Coleman (Stacy); grandchildren, Sarah Kennedy (Zachary), Danny Coleman (Brittany), Rebekah Harrison (Nicholas), David Roane (Fiancée Deauna), Taylar Bauschatz, Maddison Bauschatz, Grace Roane, Adam Coleman, and Parker Bauschatz; great-grandchildren, Diesel, Alexander, Brylan, Kellyanne, Jeffery, Rosalie, and Mikaylah; siblings, Shirley Buterbaugh, Catherine Coleman, Donald Coleman (Darlene); sister-in-law, Darlene Reichenbach (Charles); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ed was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War from 1969-1970; after being medically discharged, he went on to serve more than 23 years with the U.S. Postal service before retiring. He taught school and substituted, teaching high school English and Drama. He owned and operated Living Stones Tax Service. Ed was a member of the Theater Company at Fort Lee both acting and directing; he also participated in the Bi-Focals drama group. He was a member of Civitan International with the Hopewell-Prince George Club serving as local treasurer. Ed was an active member of Unity Baptist Church where he was involved in various ministries. He participated for many years in the drama portrayal of the docking of the Good Ship Margaret when it landed at Berkley Planation in 1619. He was a member of Superkids ministry serving as a counselor and participating in the monthly functions. Ed loved his family dearly. He enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, meeting new people, "learning something new every day," and sharing Jesus Christ as often as possible. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church 4951 Mt. Sinai Rd. Prince George, VA 23875. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the church. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. in Bermuda Memorial Park. In lieu of cut flowers, the family would appreciate house plants, dish gardens or plants for the yard. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com.
