Albert Hugh Cheely

Albert H. Cheely, age 84, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022. Albert was born April 26, 1937 in Petersburg, VA. He was the first son of the late James Robert Cheely and Mary Evelyn Clarke Cheely. Albert was preceded in death by his brother, James "Conway" Cheely. He is survived by his daughter, Margo Elaine Cheely of Newport News, VA; son, Steven Kelly Cheely (Jane) of South Charleston, WV; grandsons, Robert Kelly Cheely of Spotsylvania, VA, and Christopher Allen Cheely of Newport News, VA; and former wife, Bonnie Wilkinson Cheely. Albert graduated from Virginia Tech with a Master's in Science and Environmental Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He earned a Master of Public Administration from WVU. He received his Meteorology degree from NYU. Albert was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and served as meteorologist. He worked for Union Carbide and retired from Dow Chemical. Albert was also an avid runner. A graveside service will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA.
