Earl Fay Ogburn, Sr., 90, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015. Born in Westover, Maryland he was the son of the late Amos Charles and Lydia Ann Kauffman Ogburn and was preceded in death by his 6 brothers, Ira, Raymond, Levi, Forrest, Walter and John Ogburn; 4 sisters, Agnes King, Mildred Merrill, Mary Hartman and Susie Collins. Earl served his country proudly during World War II in the Merchants Marines. He is survived by his wife, Hazel M. Ogburn; son, Earl F. Ogburn, Jr. and his wife, Claudia; daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Henderson and her husband, Herman; grandsons, Casey Ogburn and his wife, Stephanie; Corey Ogburn and his wife, Stephanie, Herman “Trey” Henderson, III and his wife, Summers, James “Jimbo” Henderson, and his wife, Jennifer, Michael Henderson, Robert “Bobby” Henderson and his wife, Katie; great-granddaughters, Addison Ogburn, Emma Ogburn; great-grandsons, Claytor Henderson, Corbin Henderson, M. Beau Henderson, Beckett Henderson; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ogburn, Irma Ogburn; brothers-in-law, Leroy Dugan and his wife, Helen, Joseph Dugan and his wife, Darla; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Hopewell Church of the Brethren, 4415 Monroe Ave., Hopewell, Va. 23860, with Rev. Wayne Pennington, officiating.
